Ab Aur Nahi Hinsa (AAN)- Initiative
AAN is an initiative of Sahyogi addresses the issue of gender-based violence with a focused intervention on domestic violence in villages and slums in Bihar. Under the AAN initiative main agenda is to educates women, adolescent and youth to identify GBV/DV and respond; creates a cadre base in community on GBV/DV, provide counseling and legal aid support to the survivor and link them with existing government services for justice. It has created a cadre based of more than 500 community leaders to support survivor and create community discourse on the issue. It organizes “Aurat Ki Adalat” on every Wednesday to provide counselling and legal support to survivors.
SAFE-Gender Based Violence Free Personal and Public Spaces
The program focuses on cadre building among women, men and adolescents while reducing gender-based violence through gender equality education engaging panchayat, local service providers and community. The main methodology adopted are awareness generation and creating an enabling environment in community for reporting gender-based violence and challenging the status quo. It regularly facilitates life skills and gender equality sessions in schools and community with adolescent to turn them as change agent.
WASH and Menstrual Hygiene
Sahyogi implemented “Swachh Bachpan, Muskurata Bachpan” programme with support of Phia in Purnea. Project focuses on preparing Swacchta Action Plan prepration in 270 school in Kasba and Baisi. Under the project Pad bank and Soap bank was created in all identified 20 schools of Kasba block of Purnea district. Children from Bal Sansad and Adolescent girls of Meena Manch were trained. Training on Menstruation Hygiene management to adolescents at Aaganwadi centres organized. The gap assessment done in 20 Aaganwadi centres findings shared for the future action plan. In all 20 identified schools WASH services were made functional.
SUPOSHAN- A nutrition Program
A nutrition program with the name of Suposhan implemented in 12 villages and 7 panchayats in Manihari block, Katihar. The programme aimed at reducing malnutrition through innovative approach of Agri-nutrient initiative for landless to promote diet diversity, accessing services at AWCs and behavioral changes in community. The focus was on the most downtrodden community “Musahar”. The intervention was on to improving health, nutrition and sanitation with increased income at local level by the target community who primarily constitute the most deprived and excluded community “Musahar”. It addresses poverty issues affecting the life of the communities through an integrated poverty reduction approach that are owned and managed by the community itself.
